CASA SAN MARCO

CASA SAN MARCO

Cortona, Italy

Stacey and Rob, founders of Sojourn Ventures, purchased Casa San Marco in 2002 and spent many years lovingly restoring it alongside local Cortona artists, artisans, and tradesmen,a collaboration that infuses this historic residence with warmth, character, and an unmistakably inviting spirit from the moment you step inside. Occupying the top two floors of a former 16th-century palazzo, the home overlooks the magnificent Church of San Francesco and the sweeping valley below. Its design reflects the owners’ passion for flea markets and interior style, resulting in an eclectic and artful blend of antiques, curated finds, and rich architectural details that make this 500-year-old home truly one of a kind.

From the street entrance, a small foyer leads up a flight of centuries-old stone stairs to the first level of Casa San Marco, where a welcoming living room, two master bedrooms, and a cozy library/den await. The den and one of the bedrooms open onto a terrace with breathtaking valley views, an ideal spot for morning coffee or sunset relaxation. Beyond the living room, a spacious remodeled kitchen features a custom marble sink and countertop, ample dining space, and a beautifully renovated bathroom that incorporates antique Tuscan elements and original frescoed walls preserved for centuries. A second set of stairs leads to the upper floor tucked beneath terra cotta tiles and wooden beams, where two additional master bedrooms and a full bathroom create a serene and atmospheric retreat. Thoughtful, soulful, and rich with history, Casa San Marco offers a uniquely authentic Cortona experience.

Please note: Cortona is an ancient, walled hill town with many stairs, steep streets, and limited driving/parking with no elevators or handicap accommodations. Please be advised of this if you have mobility issues of any sort.
